Re: Am I a Citizen?

Lucky for you that the UK legal system is a lot easier than the US legal system. A subject access request is a written request for data that is held by an entity under the Data Protection Act. If you follow vinny's link, there is not a specific form to fill in. Please read http://www.ukba.homeoffice...

Re: British Citizenship for Spouse

You need to have ILR for 12 months before you can apply for citizenship so you can apply on 13 January 2015. You wife can apply once you obtain citizenship as she'd then be the spouse of a British Citizen.

See page 8 http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@travel/documents/digitalasset/dg_184487.pdf Your passport application must be in your legal name so if you're married then it's under your married name. If you so wish to continue using your maiden name then it needs...

Re: British Passport Application-traveling during process

Hi, I was told today at the Post Office that I can put a cover letter in my application saying that I need to travel in 3 weeks and it might help get my current (US) passport back while I wait for my British passport application to be processed. This is because I am scheduled to travel to the US. B...

She does not need to retake the Life in the UK Test. However, she will need to submit the certificate/letter confirming she passed the Life in the UK Test, stamped and signed by the test supervisor as part of her citizenship application. Re: British Citizenship after long absences

Hello Seniors / Moderators, I have the query, with regard to my timing for British Citizenship application. I came to UK in Oct. 2006, on work visa & then converted to Tier 1(G), in Mar 2009. I got the permanent residency in Jan 2012. In Jan 2012, when I was awarded ILR, I had a total of 570 days, ...

I assume that the business structure of your friend's business is that of a partnership, and that it is not a limited company in which he is a mere shareholder. Alternatively, if there is a company then he's a director or involved in the running of the business. To be excused from the penalty, the e...

Hi Sapphire, Freedom34 posted the correct link and information. So long as you're not travelling nor do you click "withdraw my application" on the link provided, you can request your documents back without invalidating your application and losing your fee. However, bear in mind that UKBA aims to ret...

That's not entirely accurate. Citizenship is not a right. However, there are laws the govern the power, in this case discretion, exercised by the State and government. This is why this case has gone to court - because there is an argument that the law has been breached. The breach is not only statut...

Very scary!! It means they can get away with anything. 'I don't like you so I will not give you and will not allow you to appeal either!!' That's not exactly true, is it? This is a HC decision with leave to appeal to the Court of Appeal - and onward to the SC. Perhaps a referral to the ECJ s...

Re: Absence more than 90 days in last year due to pregnancy

Have a look at the form that your wife will need to submit when she applies. It most likely will change a bit between now and application, but the basics will most likely stay the same. There is a box on the form (at the moment, it's the box before signature) which asks for further information if th...
