Yes.
If you left UK on 20.12 and returned on 22.12 you would count only 1 day as being absent.

3. I think you have to be present in the UK in order to be excessing treaty tights. I also think comprehensive sickness insurenece is mandatory if self sufficient as it is to serve so you are not a financial burden on the host state.

Just my opinion.

Re: Exercising treaty rights and naturalisation - EEA citize

All EEA nationals have a right to continue to reside in the UK as long as they are a ‘qualified person’, i.e. they are an EEA national exercising Treaty rights in the UK. Re: British nationality for people working in 1960s

I don't think it is possible.
One of the requirements for naturalisation is to be UK resident for the last 5 years and to hold ILR which you lose if you have been out of UK for more than 2 years.

Re: Does the clock reset after 720 days after ILR??

For absences up to 730 days you must have been UK resident for 7 years. Note that when you apply for discretion you must state that you have made UK you home together with your family and that most of your estate us in UK. You don't need to renew your passport if it just expired and if it shows your absences in the last 5 years.

Only 90 days of absences are allowed in the final year. The last day of the final year is the day when HO receives your application.
Anything above that and your wife will have to apply for discretion.

Re: Self sufficiency for British Citizenship application

Please double check this as I am not sure but I believe "self-sufficiency" and not relying on public funds should be enough for you to be exercising treaty rights.
I also think that now that you have PR it allows you to apply for naturalisation based on 5 years residence + PR.
