It specifically says:

NO WORK OR RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS

I'd heard about the work thing too, but seems to go against the wording on the visa.

Cheers!

Student and Work

Quick question! Is it possible to lift the no work restriction on a six month visa or must you fill in form FLR(S) for a new one? This is after taking up a full time recognised degree course. I heard you should only apply for visa extension inside a month of expiry this one has four months left on i...

Q about CP

Just reading about Civil Partnerships in relation to Immigration. My questions is does this Act give same-sex couples the same rights as Unmarried opposite sex partners? what I'm getting at is it seems on reading the docs that a same-sex couple, say one UK, one visa national, register their CP and b...

the account must have enough turnover and current balaance to show you can easily afford to bear all the related expenses This is what I don't understand, how can any student show they have say at a conservative estimate, 15,000 pounds sterling free and available per annum? Surely it's not all down...

How long did your friend pay for? In the past they only issued visas up to the period where tuition fees were fully paid up for. Ahh, I dunno that. I'll ask. I did ask if it said anything about work etc, ie was it actually a short term student visa but he didn't know. Seems a bit unfair tho - favou...

ALL student visas to be six month?

I friend of a friend (yeah, I know!) tells me his friends friend who is on a full time degree course (two years or more) was only given a six month visa despite the above. Was told all student visas now will be six month ones so they can can control and review abuse etc. Does anyone know if this is ...

So, looks like either split up, forced marriage or relocate to russia for a while!

Thanks guys anyway.

Just got news, she had the interview and they are gonna give her a 'restricted visa' for the two week period of the course. Great, two bloody weeks, they mustn't have liked her staying on last time. Can we extend the visa in country if we find another course - with it being two weeks doesn't leave m...

One more question guys - the ECO, which I presume is Entry Clearance Officer, is he the guy who says yay or nay at the consulate in E-burg or the guy who checks the docs at the airport here? My g/f got the grilling at the eburg consulate - nothing at all at Heathrow. Are we talking about the same th...

Steve, Position more clearer with details of her study and financial aspects. With respect to John it is best to stick to the student visa that has been applied for which is the better option in the circumstances you describe. Do not change your application to a visitor one - it will only raise fla...

We thought about that but I have heard so many horror stories. Plus I would most likely have to be her 'sponsor' which would mean possibly admitting to a relationship and more intrusive questioning from the consulate. It's all anecdotal but all the Russian tourist visa to UK stories we've heard have...

Pros 1. College on DFES register as per new Home Office requirements. 2. She went home after her course last time and did not overstay her visa. Cons 1. The outlay for a 2 week trip is on the high side. 2. She was here for 3 months last time given the course was for 2 weeks - what did she do the res...

Yes sorry - I'm in panic mode! I'll clarify..... No, visa has not been rejected, maybe we are worrying too much, but they've obviously spotted sth needing clarification otherwise they would have 'rubber stamped' it like the others on the 'group' as they call it. The visa is a six month one, course i...

Second Student Visa Rejected?

GF is Russian and a student. To cut a long story short the (Russian) student Education acency that arranged her visa for a course last year said she could come again on a similar or advanced course and this time no horrendous visa interview requried as it was group tour. Great we though, might as we...

Student Visa - for gf

Assuming my RU gf gets offered a place at uni here, is there anything wrong with me supporting her, her living with me etc? I know this could prolly be seen as an attempt to get her here for different reasons. Well it is and it isn't! We consider ourselves a couple, and our reasons for wanting her t...

Seems if we do it that way she can work if she wants, and she does, which is nice :) I wonder then if she would be elligi...

Long and Complex - UK National - Russian Partner

Right! I have a Russian gf, she lives in Russia and is a student and works as an English Teacher. Not thats it's relevant but it's not an internet bride thing, she was teaching me Russian since I love the Country and the Language. Anyway, the facts, sort of chronologically, seems clearest way: She's...
