Re: Next Ceremony 26th November at Killarney

Ok guys. Got my invitation today. Post will hopefully be delivered tomorrow. No need to build up hopes as I got it through judicial process. I will post in detail about the process I went through on or after 26th. This forum helped a lot in my legal proceedings. Especially Timelines and then invita...

Re: Child Benefit

Yes, if your husband satisfies the criteria of child benefit entitlement then he can apply. There is some sort of preference that these benefits are transferred to the mother's account but it is not mandatory. Child benefits of my kid are paid in my bank account rather than my wife's because when I ...

Re: Changing my place of birth.

Thanks for the reply. So indeed it sounds almost impossible without any evidence. The only evidence i was thinking of is street CCTV images of my parents with me in Dublin Ireland. However firstly i don't think they keep CCTV footage for decades and secondly back when i was born CCTV cameras weren'...

Hi In the Residency Calculator I must enter start date and end date for each year, but in the passport I can find only the end date and there is no starting date, there is only a stamp with date of the day that we get each GNIB card so does that consider the starting date? could you help me please?...

Re: photos with €950 draft

hi I was just inquiring why a second set of passport photos need to be sent with the €950 payment. I thought the certified photos sent with the initial application were all that were required. The photo must be less than 6 months old so if you applied more than 6 months ago they will require a new ...

Re: delay in citizenship application - applied in 2016

By Indian origin, I meant Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi married to Latvian/Lithuanian/Romanian, as these cases have been on news lately. Also, it appears that after brexit people mainly from the Indian subcontinent (who are now British National) are using Ireland as a backdoor by exercising EU treaty...

Thanks for the advise I am not sure myself whether it is a good idea or a terrible one. Just thinking out loud on the pros and cons; Pros: 1. If a copy of the file is provided it is some sort of guarantee that the file is not lost 2. As they are supposed to provide all notes/reports as well, the app...

Re: delay in citizenship application - applied in 2016

Before a legal action, it might be a good idea to ask a copy of your file under the freedom of information act, which bounds the department to give you all documents, reports and even remarks on your application. Can you please let us know how can we ask for a copy of my file from the citizenship o...

Applied on the basis of Irish Associations in October of 2017. Received request for passport and police report in January of 2018, and was informed February 2018 that I was in the final stage and that my application had been sent to the Minister. Re: delay in citizenship application - applied in 2016

I agree that there could be multiple reasons for applications being delayed. But since most the so-called investigations are about the past acts of the applicants, what is the harm in telling the applicant that "a court case is pending against you, so we won't take a decision until that is clear" or...

Re: Reasons for citizenship delay

You can expect any possible illogical response from INIS. They will keep telling you, you are in the final stage, you file is sent to Minister and then back again we are doing some verifications at the second stage. But all these are telephonic responses and you have no legal proof of what they say....

I agree on all the important points you highlighted and I also suspect there might be some issues with her application for British Passport, otherwise, she might have that option open as well. But all she was demanding was a "privilege" as she is an expat, not an immigrant ;) To be honest, naming an...

Exactly, a privilege granted at the discretion of the Department of Justice and Equality. Oh wait, did you miss the word "Equality" in the department name? It means they will treat everyone equally ;)

Citizenship Ceremony Dates and INIS Website

Re: Statless person

Sometimes there is an issue if an asylum seeker (who is granted asylum because there is a danger to his/her life in the home country) visits his/her home country. As the rationale behind the asylum claim is no more valid after the person has already visited and returned back safely from that state. ...

Re: 10 Months and No Second Stage Letter

In my opinion, the system ran by INIS is not transparent and fair to all. The department works mysteriously, there might be some reasons for the delay in any application such as verification/checks from the external agency from a foreign country. But, I also suspect it also depends on i) which hand ...
