Yes, you do have to send your original passport (which will be returned to you in a couple of weeks). I you have worked for the same employer one letter is enough (as far as it is recent).
At the end of the day... I wasn't in the second stage as I just received today the second stage letter (after being required additional docs last month).
Am I correct assuming now that the second stage is all about garda reports, etc.?

I heard if you apply via solicitor applications tend to last longer then a normal one for INIS to make a decision. You can find some info on this forum. No idea why but who knows.
Actually the only reason I applied through a solicitor is because, apparently, it's was quicker to get approved.
