Re: Am I eligible for a British Passport?

Send it to them (but use a secure method to send and always keep a certified copy)- if they are still not satisfied then you would need to apply for a Certificate of British Nationality Status from the Home Office using form NS.

Also look Into whether you have a document that the hospital may have given at the time of your birth, usually around that time hospitals although they didn't register your birth they gave you a document to confirm your birth, date, time and the mothers name on it. I forgot the name of that documen...

Re: British Passport for Baby - What to Submit?

If the PR document indicates date on which PR was acquired- and child was born after this date- it should not be necessary to re-evidence PR as part of a passport application. However- it's important that you keep (for life) all records surrounding PR, work in the U.K., etc. and in addition, always ...

Hi Jmmo20, I'm in similar situation to your case. I would appreciate if you can share what you ended up doing, if possible.

Re: British born, wasn't registered before 18 - just found out I'm not officially a citizen

My parents had asked the officials to register me as a citizen as an infant, but were told that it wasn't necessary since I was already a British citizen by birth. What exactly is meant by "asked the officials"? Was an application sent to the Home Office for you to be registered as a British citizen?

Re: British born, wasn't registered before 18 - just found out I'm not officially a citizen

Based on the facts given, it's not clear how there could be any claim to British citizenship. Perhaps the questions asked are intended to elucidate if perhaps you might have a permanent resident status (ILR) that's not been lost or revoked although that appears unlikely. Did you parents never apply ...

Re: Leaked Post-Brexit EU/EEA Immigration strategy paper reported in the Guardian

There is no intention to give false reassurance, etc.- and it's already noted that there likely will be anomalies in individual cases. However, instead of giving credence to every newspaper article (speculation) and "leaked" document, perhaps it would be more productive to at least conduct a self-as...

If her NZ mother was born or naturalised in New Zealand- then the child is also a New Zealand citizen by descent.

Re: MN1 Form - Am I section 3(2) or section 3(5)?

There is a choice and you can select the better option- section 3(5). You should be aware that section 3(5) registration does not require the children to have Permanent Residence. 3 years residence is enough- applies to child and both parents, usually- and both parents normally need to sign the appl...

She can apply on either the 3 or 5 year route. 3 year route she needs husbands passport and she needs the marriage cert. Separated is fine as long as not divorced, if applying on spouse of BC 3 year route. Spouses passport is not required for 3 year route- it's not obligatory for spouse to even hav...

However- British citizenship from the Channel Islands or Isle of Ma...

Form AN does ask for spouse/partner's address. But where is spouse actually "living"? Even if spending time temporarily in the United States- has that person maintained a United Kingdom address and/or valid U.K. immigration permit? GB/NI driving licence held? Filing U.K. income tax returns? (as a re...

Re: Applying for citizenship after successful PR - need to send worker registration cards?

If you have permanent resident status/PR Card you should not be asked to re-evidence worker registration status. Although you were correct to keep copies- this is something you should always do (for life) with all immigration/citizenship documentation.

Are you being serious? It is unreasonable because there are no guarantees that these supposed rights we're going to to acquire, if ever, will be for life. Any British court can throw our rights out of the window if and when they please. Let me explain that to you in other words: this is a deliberat...

It would be recommended to get the consular birth certificate first, then apply for a British passport.

A consular birth certificate can be used as evidence of British citizenship for passport purposes.

It will likely be a lot simpler to get the child a British consular birth certificate and then use that document to get a British passport.

You would have to renounce your British citizenship in order to get Spanish citizenship. Although it depends on what exactly "renounce" means in this context. If it only means declaring a renunciation to the Spanish authorities, this has no effect under British law. It's agreed with earlier posters...

In addition to the points already made, I see no reason to have to send away her 1973 British passport. Her registration certificate is all that matters. The thing is we don't yet know what 'settled' will mean after Brexit. The existing DCPR will not be valid. We don't know who and how will be considered a permanent resident. Things can still change- negotiations with the EU and necessary legislation in Parliament- however, you can read the current ...

Naturalised Irish citizens should not assume that their citizenship will automatically be revoked due to inadvertent non-compliance with this requirement. They should, however, be aware that it's a possibility. Being "aware" of something doesn't really add any value in itself- what specific actions...
