Thanks for the reply Obie. So the downside to applying late for ILR would be she would have to quit her job. Can she take the English language test for ILR instead of the KOL or is the the English Language test just for FLR? If she fails her KOL again and we go for FLR is it also ok to go for FLR la...

My wife has decided she wants to do the test on 21 December and if she was to pass post it special delivery on the 22 and it would get there on the 23. Would it be down as received by the UKBA on the 23rd, i'm thinking they could mark it down as received at a later date and as her visa expires on th...

I had no idea she could apply for ILR after her spouse visa has expired, I thought she would get in all kinds of trouble for that. She isn't interested in applying for Naturalisation any time soon but she is employed. Would she be breaking rules then if she was working and applying for ILR after her...

Help needed regarding ILR

Hi My wife's spouse visa finishes on 30/12/11 She has failed her KOL test 3 times, the 3rd one today. What are her options now, the next available test for her to take would be 21 December, but if she passed I think it would be too late to get her application in on time especially with the Christmas...

Some questions for my wife's ILR

Hello all. I have some questions regarding my wife's application for ILR. For the record i'm British and she is Ethiopian. I've had a look on the UKBA website and i'm not sure I understand the earliest date she can apply. She was granted her spouse visa on 30 September 2009 an and it expires on 30 D...

Would this count as public funds?

Hi. I'm British and my wife is Ethiopian. She has been in the UK for 6 months on her setttlement visa and has no recourse to pubic funds. She has had to visit the dentist a few times and as she is a low earner we have got a NHS HC1 form to get help with her health costs. I'm just wondering if she go...

Checked out Emirates and a few other sites and the cheapest seem to be Turkish and BMI, the return fares arn't so bad it's just the one way fares back to the UK are quite high. Anyway i've found a good deal for a one way to Addis with BMI so probably go with that and as I don't have to be back in th...

Danbrix, thanks for that link. I gave them a call and they do have a good price for Manchester-Addis return, but the single from Addis-Manchester for my wife on the same flight is quite expensive. I thought about booking 2 returns but if the outbound flight doesn't get used then the inbound gets can...

I've been looking at flights and Turkish Airlines seem to be cheaper than KLM at the moment, I don't suppose anybody knows what the requirement for her to fly via Istanbul would be? She's Ethiopian btw. I'll give the Turkish Embassy in London a call aswell ma...

Hi batleykhan, yeah all the other issues are covered pretty well (I hope) It was just my accounts only show my yearly earnings, and as the question on the application form asks for the sponsors monthly earnings(which i've given an answer for) I was unsure as to whether the ECO would want it breaking...

Hello all, my wife will be submitting her settlement visa application the week after next and as i'm self employed I just want to make sure i'm providing enough documents regarding my finances. I'd get this done if I was you, just to be on the safe. Just call your local Enviromental Department at the council and someone will come round and measure the rooms and have a bit of a look round just to check it won't be overcrowed when your wife comes. My local council did it for free but some of...

Hi RM786, when i've searched for any info regarding IAS on here the reports have usually been quite poor (the majority that i've read anyway) but I was thinking of getting some advice off them myself. What do you get for your £70 then? Just a bit of a chit chat, I take it you wouldn't recommend them?
