I'd get this done if I was you, just to be on the safe. Just call your local Enviromental Department at the council and someone will come round and measure the rooms and have a bit of a look round just to check it won't be overcrowed when your wife comes. My local council did it for free but some of...

What documents can I get from HMRC?

Hello all, my wife will be applying for her settlement visa soon. Myself I am self employed and have been registered self employed for a good few years now. I was wondering what documents I could get from HMRC, I called them up and asked is there such a thing as a registration letter I could get to ...

Oh dear RM seems like you had a bit of a rough time! I think i'll give them a miss then! I think it is very difficult to find good advice on these matters and a lot of the "so called advice" is inconsistent, but I definitely agree with you about this site being the best place for help. I think a lot...

Hi RM786, when i've searched for any info regarding IAS on here the reports have usually been quite poor (the majority that i've read anyway) but I was thinking of getting some advice off them myself. What do you get for your £70 then? Just a bit of a chit chat, I take it you wouldn't recommend them?

If we make a new application should we withdraw our appeal?

Hello all, my wife's settlement visa was refused in May and we appealed against the decision. The earliest the appeal would be heard is November and providing we won the earliest she would be over to the UK would be February 2010. We don't want to wait this long so we will make a new application in ...

Settlement visa-employment

Hello, my wife will be applying for her UK settlement visa in a couple of months. I was just wondering does it make a difference whether she has a job lined up or not? She will want to find work when she gets here but she won't have anything lined up beforehand. Also on the appliction form regarding...

RM786, I live with my brother at his house and even though we had proof it was his house and he wrote a letter stating it was his house the letter did not state that we had actual permisson to live there. Also what I said I was earning did not match what I put into my bank account every week, becaus...

RM786, we put our appeal in, in May. At the BHC in Addis Ababa(my wife is Ethiopian) they did not overturn their decision and we both got a letter from the AIT (I got a lettter because i'm her representative for the appeal) to tell us that the ECO has until 14th September to send off all their info ...

Yes RM786, we have an appeal ongoing and are going to put in a new application aswell. Of course there is no guarantee they will grant a visa 2nd time around so it is a risk because you have to pay the visa fee all over again which aint cheap, but like yourself I want my wife over here with me as so...

My weekly deposits to the bank are regular and the same amount (give or take a few quid for petrol, lunch) so that sounds fine. You've answered my question batleykhan thanks. RM786, we put our appeal in, in May and they will be in touch in September about the hearing. The earliest this would be is No...

A question for batleykhan if I may...I don't want to steal RM786's thunder too much but its better than starting a whole new thread! myself and RM786 seem to be in a similar situation and batleykhan you raised some very good points there. The sudden increases in cash deposits to the bank worries me....

RM786, I'm in a similar situation regarding my wifes visa as i'm a self employed window cleaner and also get paid cash. Though you say you had a letter from your accountant the ECO has said they have not prepared actual accounts therefore you have no documentational (is this a word, or have I just m...

Self employed, proving earnings for maintanance

Hello all, my wife is applying for her settlement visa soon so of course regarding maintanance I have to prove my income. I'm a self employed window cleaner and earn £300 per week, this can be seen on my bank statements every week (minus £15--20 to pay for petrol, lunch) I will be handing in my acc...

Thanks batleykhan for the reply, I do realize we will have to pay the full fee again and there is no guarantee she will get her visa, and while I don't neccesary have a problem appealing it just takes such a long time. Why will I have a problem with my finances? I know £250 a week isn't a mega amou...

Wife's settlement visa-2nd time around

Hello all, This is my first post so apologies if its a bit long winded. Myself (British) and my wife (Ethiopian) got married in April of this year and applied for her settlement visa to the UK and she was refused. I've read a lot of the threads on here and because of the hassle and the time involved...
