You may well be right about the 99%, I have no way of checking it but...
- Because of the immigration rules and the case law.
Do you have any links that show that point? Bear in mind that we're talking dependant parent.

Ah, OK, I take it you retract the "automatic refusal" claim. There may be readers of this thread who are misled by that into not applying at all so I think it's important we clarify that point. One solicitor's stats don't prove anything. However, from personal experience I know four different people...

It is bizarre indeed. I know someone whose mother and father both came here on a VV and applied for stay. Three years and several appeals later they got ILR on written assurances from their daughter sponsor that she'd take care of all their expenses. A few months later the father had a stroke and th...

Please read his posts again - my understanding is that it's his biological brother. I fear that time is short for the brother application as he'll be 18 soon and I beleeve that the parent application is stronger submitted on its own and you are more likely to succeed To be fair, it would difficult t...

I've known several successful cases that have applied from within the UK while here on a VV.

They do have to prove that their circumstances changed after arrival here but... my solicitor informs me that it's very possible.

If they could afford it- why should the NHS foot the bill? Should they not pay for their care? That's a political question and this forum cannot resolve it. Become a politician and change the law. In the meanwhile, the UK welcomes parents of permanent residents if they meet certain conditions. You ...

She never claimed it was a right! Give her a break :)

She is correct in that there is a clear policy on the issue of parents. If her mother meets those requirements she's welcome in the UK and will get ILR. Does anyone believe that this is not a correct understanding of the position?

And they will get an automatic refusal if they apply in the UK.
Why is that then? I'm sure there've been a lot of cases where parents have applied from within the UK and succeeded.

I'm surprised at the strength of feeling against people gettting ILR via dependant parent route.

If there is any indication that they came on a visitor visa with the intention to apply for ILR while here that immediately disqualifies them for ILR.

Dependant Family Member - Any ideas re financial dependance?

I'm applying for my 70 year old widowed mother to get ILR as a parent/dependant. I am the sponsor. I'm confident I can prove everything they require on issues like my financial situation, accomodation etc. But she does have some savings back in India (about Rs 400,000, circa £5,000). I can't just m...

if they dont appeal, dont expect your hubby to get a visa straightaway. That's what really annoys me about them: they are bad losers. If they've lost and aren't going to be appealing why don't they just issue the visa instead of expecting you to chase them? If you just leave it to them they'll neve...

If you've got a good barrister, then you're 90% of the way there. He'll guide you on what to say and what not to say. Usually they try to...

Sorry, I've got another question. Try as I might I can't find the RON 112 sponsorship declaration form. Their own Advanced Search recognises neither RON 112, sponsorship declaration form or even the words sponsor or sponsorship! Google wasn't much help either :( Am I missing something obvious? Does ...

I've been through the appeals process and my layman's opinion is that 1. IAT is easier on applicants than the Home Office is. 2. They expect the Home Office representative to be properly prepared - they expect a higher standard from them than they do of you 3. The Home Office representative is rarel...

Anyone have a link for me? (re: Dependant Relative)

Hi, I've been settled in the UK for many years and I'm looking to get my mother over from India as her health is failing her and she needs care. She's over 70. I've done a bit of research using Google and have an idea of the criteria (financially dependant on me, me being able to support her, accomm...
