The date of posting is considered to be the date of application assuming you use Royal Mail. If you use a courier service, then it's usually the date the application reaches the UKBA.

Agreed. You have not been in the UK at all over the last 2 years which means that you're probably best submitting an initial application to come over to the UK.

I hope you're aware of the recent changes to the immigration rules though!

Hi drjabberwocky23, He personally visited HO for ILR, where he discovered some descrepency on his visa stamping. HO confirmed that these descrepency is either from HO or from him employers and hence they kept his passport for check/investigate why this happened. Descrepency happened 2-3 years back....

That is not true. The original passport alone should be sufficient for this purpose.
