I am sorry there is little you can do right now that your leave to remain in the Uk is expired.
The only option is to apply for work permit/HSMP from your home country.Bearing in mind the "grace period" till october,otherwise you will be affected by the years of ban from entry the UK.

Maybe any other traceable history(work,school,bills )etc.

It will be unwise to hide your spouse criminal history.It depends on the level of offence it will live with him/her for a while.
Luckily you are allowed EEAFP to come into the UK,but the restriction will certainly be extended to you.
