living in NDIA OCI (silly question)

Hi,

May be a silly question
If one has got OCI, is it a simple matter of just enter INDIA showing the OCI booklet and start living and working for long stay ? OR is there anything else which needs to be done ? Like one time registration with FRRO or some minor rule I am missing out ...

Re: New AN Nationality application form up date

The date of your NCS appointment is NOT the same as the date when HO receives your form. Confirm with the council that they send the documents off the day after and you should be fine. I've seen on here some councils holding on the forms for a few days. I did ask the council when I applied for my N...

Re: OCI query! Help please!

You can surrender your INDIAN passport and apply for OCI from any INDIAN mission. But there are 2 things to take note here 1. It usually takes 3 months for OCI application to process and in the last stage for a couple of weeks (approx) you will not have British passport with you (you need to send it...

Hi, a max if 180 days is allowed per year each year calculated from the date of application backwards. If your date of application leads to the 6 month absence broken across 2 years then the 180 day rule will not apply. You did not specify the dates when you were away. I will try to explain crudely ...

Re: ILR '2-year absence' clarification

To my knowledge this is a matter of luck I have seen one of my friend returning after 2yrs 3 months and he was not asked a single question in the immigration desk. However the rule does dictate that if a person lives outside of UK for more than 2yrs then ILR is in trouble. The person can always come...

Re: Seeking Advise for ILR application

Evidences of income come in 2 parts. Usually if you have 2 supporting documents for evidences then it is fine. eg:- you said you were self-employed. If there is any proof (cheque etc., paid to you) and it is substantiated by your bank statement which says that the money was credited in your name, th...

Re: Unemployed for 7 months

You can ask for SAR report. This contains the information you give to UKBA when you land in the UK (like the passport scans you would have done during entry into the country). This will prove that you were here. Moreover, if you were inside the country, you dont have to prove that you were in the UK...

Re: NO U visa for OCI anymore

If anyone is going to recently travel to INDIA then they could ask the immigration officials during their stamping and get a clear information on what is being practiced. I just did a travel. Went to the immigration official. All that the person did was scan the OCI card and stamped my British pass...

Hi All, I had entered UK the first time on the 25th of May 2010 but then had gone back for a couple of months to enter back on the 6th of August 2010 (i.e. within 90 days). With the announcement by the Indian FM to add 150 countries to the TVoA Scheme, is there any hope that United kingdom will be added? When is it likely to come into force? Google of no help! Atleast this is what it says now. UK seems to be included in that. http://www.traveldailymedia.com/218662/ind...

not all OCI holders were indian citizen's before or child of Indian citizens (such as OCI's through parent/grant parents routes, and as per new rules spouses) hence 5(1)(g) is for people that don't qualify for 5(1)(f) Oh wow ! that is very good then. That means if I want (sigh) then I can get back ...

if you want you can regain Indian citizenship after an year long stay in india with OCI - albeit losing British Citizenship. IS it not a 5year long stay ? Re: Lifelong validity endorsement

IMHO, this clause is worded ambiguously and revolves around the OCI registered individual entitled/granted certain benefits based on correct information printed on the inside of front and back cover of the booklet - which supersedes anything else. The whole OCI itself is worded ambiguously. In what...

My knowledge about this is If child is born in the UK and both parents get ILR then the child is elibigle to be registered as British citizen directly. You just have to apply for British passport for children once parents get ILR. I have seen one of my friends applying for British Passport for the c...
