There is only one process, an extension. There is no such thing as 'updating' a visa. It is a new CoS and a visa extension.

You cannot sponsor yourself in your own business for a skilled worker visa, if that is what your are thinking of doing.

No there is not. The only applicants who dont have to wait 12 months are children under 18 and people married to British citizens.

There is no dependency concept for citizenship. Each applicant regardles of age, must meet the requirements on the own.

You will also need the English B1 and LIUK tests for when you can apply once you have held ilr for 12 months.

If OP has lived here since age 8 and now in university, likely they either had ILE or got ILR a few years ago before age 18.
