Agreed. It's better to carry your old passport just in case to avoid any hassle

Transfer your visa to a new passport wrote: You don’t have to transfer your visa - you can carry both your old and new passports when travelling to or from the UK instead. For those with visa vignette stuck on their old passports, the link by Vinny is relevant. For those with a BRP to begin with, t...

Re: Travel with new passport and tier 2 general visa.

I have had tier 2 visa issued on my old passport and then I rrenewed it. I have subsequently travelled abroad and entered UK again with only my BRP and the new passport. I did not have to carry my old passport. It is common sense that passports do expire and I have not seen any guidance stating you ...

Re: Final check for ILR Long Residence 9/2016

Congratulations chemist :) I am really confused by reading through the thread though regarding the first question you had asked (earliest date to apply being either 1st September 2016 OR 23rd September 2016). It seemed that the advice given to you suggested that the earliest you can apply is 23rd Se...

Re: Settlement on Tier 2 General Visa

There is no restriction on switching from one sponsor to another provided all other conditions are met. For ILR, if you satisfy all other conditions, then it is perfectly OK to have worked for more than one sponsor over the course of the 5 years qualifying period on Tier 2.

Re: Renting a new home while passport at Home Office

I have rented a property from a letting agency, with showing my driving licence. Because I am a Tier 2 migrant, I do understand the rules better than a lot of those who don't go through these visa issues, and while there is a law to check for right to live, it is very poorly implemented at the momen...

Re: Career Break - NHS to Postdoc

won't the issue of pre-selection come into play for RLMT once the return to NHS is made ? Others can advise but I think it can get tricky. After your postdoc, you will be applying again to the NHS job, and the NHS will have to advertise the post, and then prove that you were the best candidate among...

Re: Replacement BRP from outside UK

I have not gone through this issue myself but just common sense dictates that it should have been a new vignette if you have not yet travelled to the UK. The reason is that even if a new BRP is issued and sent to a designated post office inside UK, you will still need to show your passport (which wi...

Re: Completion of Contract

Your visa expiry date will be in line with the contract you had. Actually you should be able to see some extra days granted to you on top of your end of contract date (assuming you were not on Tier 2 when you started) and those are supposed to be grace period. Nevertheless, generally the Home Office...

Re: Tier 2 General VISA_Sponsorship Revoked

Check this for the last point (https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/tier_2_dependent_extension_why_a) If the principle migrant changes employer, the dependants do not need to reapply provided their existing visa is valid. In your particular case, if the visa is indeed curtailed, then it would pres...

(1): Yes, your daughter needs visa (she wouldn't have if she was born inside UK and was not travelling outside) (2): Yes, it is possible and home office has no issue/concern with her job, that would be between your wife and her company (as she is on a dependent visa, and not Tier 2) (3): Others can ...

I disagree. Re: Tier 2 extension and Dependant visa question

Tier 2 visa is attached to an employer. Whether you can apply for extension or not will depend on your current employer or any new employer who is willing to sponsor you and you will need a certificate of sponsorship. Assuming you have that part sorted, you can first apply for Tier 2 extension visa ...

Just to update, Visa granted to both my son and wife :)
But given the amount of anxiety and concern, my advice to any others making their application is to submit further evidence of relationship (emails, pictures etc.) although the guidance documents do not talk about it..just to be sure..

What exactly is a marriage subsistence letter?
Or is it just a cover letter saying that I am inviting my wife and son to come to UK and live with me?
