I planned on coming back in June or July on a working holiday visa as I am in a year long relationship with an Irish citizen.. once my working holiday visa was jus...

Ok, I was just wondering if anyone knows the timeframe of getting this visa? I planned on going to the Irish Embassy in Chicago and applying in person so I don't have to send off my passport since I'm going to Ireland again in March but I was hoping to move to Ireland in July with this working holid...

Working Holiday Visa for US citizen

Hey it's me again- As of September 2008, Ireland and the US have an agreement where US citizens can come to Ireland and work for up to 12 months with this Working Holiday Visa.. I've been to the DFA website and the Irish Embassy website in New York and I understand all of the items you have to have ...

Ok, nevermind, sorry, I think I got it.. when I'm coming in this time, I tell the office that stamps my passport that I intend on applying for permission to remain for 6 months? So let's say once that is done and register at the garda station, and do receive a stamp 3 as a visitor for 6 months, can ...

Hah, great now I'm confused! I thought I just got the 90 day stamp and then within the first few days I was supposed to go to the garda station and ask for an extension in the form of a permission to remain? That changed now?

Alright.. thanks for everyones help. I e-mailed the Garda Station in Dublin. I just don't know how I would be able to live with her and therefore prove joint accounts and all that if I can't get a permission to remain as a visitor first. I have tons of proof of the long distance relationship and I'v...

Ok, so it's not illegal for me to come and apply for a visitor's permission to remain and then once it becomes 2 years, go and apply for the stamp 4, de facto permission to remain? I was just worried that I'd be there for my visitor permission to remain and they wouldn't allow me to apply for the st...

Yes, but I have only been in a relationship with my Irish girlfriend for a year so I was going to come to Ireland to live with her for the 2nd year of the relationship so that we would have proof of us living together for the 2nd year. As of right now, we are a long distance couple with proof in pho...

Thanks for the links :)

So that is the application that I will need to submit for the de facto?

And what about the permission to remain, stamp 3? Will I be able to receive a stamp 4 after I've gotten the stamp 3?

I'm from the United States.. We've been together since December but it's been long distance.. I do have proof from Skype history, cell phone records, airline tickets, etc. I planned on coming over in July 2010 to live on a permission to remain until we will have been together for 2 years and sharing...

Well.. I guess I'd stay for as long as possible as a visitor because I won't be getting a work permit for now and I'm an online college student so that wouldn't count.. so would I be able to have a permission to remain for a year if I can prove that I have enough to support myself for that year? And...
