Re: UK driving licence: exchanging for IRL

Normally they ask for proof of address like bills on your name is the best, PPS number (payslip, original PPS letter, PPS card, Irish EHIC card), 55eur, you can pay by card on the spot. If you will go for it outside Dublin probably you dont need online appointment just walk in, put your name in the...

Re: RC:Visa free travel to european countries

It appears that Gibraltar Poland Cyprus Czech Republic Croatia Norway Belgium do not insist on holders of UK-issued EEA Residence Card of a family member of EEA national to travel together with the EEA national or to join EEA nationals in those countries. Said differently, a holder of a card - a non...

Re: PR and implications for EEA Residence Card holders

The abuse would be just doing a few translation jobs a week to apparently keep up your status as a qualified person. Now I'm not sure if legally that would be abuse - I don't understand why some actions are abuse and others are not guilty by affiliation and not really sure how to respond to that. I...

with an accusation that you were abusing the system to allow your parents to live with you. I don't know how well such an argument would fare with the courts. Not sure what you mean there Richard. If abuse quantified in terms of reliance on social benefits than this issue is a non-issue. On the oth...

Re: PR and implications for EEA Residence Card holders

How many hours a week are you working at making money when you're in the UK? 10-12 hours has been suggested as sufficient for a 'worker' in Kempf (case C-139/85), though I do wonder if he was in fact self-employed. I presume time spent drumming up business also counts - is your published research a...

Re: PR and implications for EEA Residence Card holders

Thank you all guys for finding time to respond. I will try to state fact, feel free to spin it either way. 1. I am Irish and was resident in NI for at least 5 years (but after 2006). I selected last 5 years as the qualifying period for simplicity. 2. During this time I was employed as a postgraduate...

PR and implications for EEA Residence Card holders

I would kindly ask for an advice from experienced forum members. My parents, non-EEA nationals, reside in UK on foot of an EEA Residence Card. We gone through the tribunal to prove their dependence, it was duly attested in court, it was ruled in our favour. This ruling was accepted by UKBA who subse...

Re: Dependent parents refused entry to join BC sponsor in Sp

Dependence can be out of choice. In plain English, it means that if your parents CHOSE to be dependent on you and you can provide evidence of supporting them over a period of time, their background and vast estate is immaterial. Lim is a good case (google it). you might need to re-submit the applica...

There is no change to this position" will this mean that their family members will be migrated to UK-i...

Re: Continuity of residence for PR application

A simple question but I am confused. Citizenship: Ireland, resident in NI, starting the qualifying period from 2011. Continuity of residence is not broken if absent for no longer than 6 months. So, residing in UK for 6 months counts as maintenance of residence. So if I submit proof of residence and...

Hello, I genuinely need some help. I have thought to apply for a confirmation of PR. During the past five years I was in the mixture of employment and self-employment. My employment was with the university and was patchy (in macro terms; in fact, it coincided with my ability to teach during 3 study ...

The only treaty rights you have in a Union state are as dependent of your EEA sponsor. That is assuming your Irish sponsor can exercise EEA rights as an Irish citizen in Eire can you please tell me if Ireland treats their citizens as EEA citizens from 'day 1' (as Spain), or one needs to exercise tr...

Re: Driving licence and legality of stay in UK

When I worked at DVLA at Swansea I needed my Government Security Clearance so there is more data to protect than just a permit to drive, plus I'm not sure I'd want to share roadspace with an undocumented driver or person with no legal status. I interpret for the Police and need more security cleara...

Re: Driving licence and legality of stay in UK

What are you on about? If a law is enacted you follow it, simple. As for the Star of St. David, was that meant as an anti-Semitic remark? There was a law prohibiting german women marrying Jewish man. Lobotomy - expressed in inability to connect sensical and non-sensical - is not a requirement to be...

Re: Driving licence and legality of stay in UK

It makes sense, to deter those from coming to the UK unlawfully. The background to the government discussion of the Immigration Act ( sections 46 & 47 ) can be found here (click). What makes sense to you, I find non-sensical. Wearing David's star on your forearm and to walk around the perimeter of ...

National transpositions of 2004/38/EC: travel without EEA na

Hello I am not sure if this has been done. Please don't throw rotten tomatoes but point me in the right direction. I am interested to see if efforts were put to identify how different EU nations transposed 2004/38/EC and which ones (e.g. Ireland) allow RC holders visa free even in the absence of EEA...
