Re: First time passport application

I applied online on 23/12 and send supporting documentation and the end of March. My progress bar is a tiny fraction from the end (if that makes sense?! ) and I have an estimated due date of 18/5. I’m hoping that as I haven’t heard anything by now, all paperwork is in order and I’m nearing th...

Re: First time passport application

My passport application tracking status has changed to "Processing application" since this Monday with estimated issue date for the passport indicated as 31/05/21. How realistic is this given the backlog? :D . My application was created back in Feb, I was wondering if they process applications by th...

Re: First time passport application

You DO NOT need a Stamp 6 to get a re-entry visa. You can apply for a re-entry visa right away when you receive the naturalisation certificate, which happens a lot when people just get naturalised and need to travel. A lot of people did it the same way before the lockdown started. The only 'benefit...

Re: First time passport application

It's important to point out that a Stamp 6 is good for non-visa required nationals only. Those people can use their foreign passport which has the Stamp 6 endorsed alone to enter the state. For visa-required nationals, this Stamp 6 offers zero help at all, as you will be required to apply for a re-...

Re: First time passport application

Just as an update in case if anyone plans to apply for a Stamp 6 - I received my passport back today so it took roughly 3 weeks to process a Stamp 6 application. Stamp 6 is valid till the expiration date of the passport - which is really good. It's good to see that the Passport office resumed their ...

Re: First time passport application

I was able to get a re-entry visa for my son in less than a week after posting, kudos to Re-Entry visa team! However I'm still waiting for my & my wife's passports to get a Stamp 6. The office received packs on April 15th and they mentioned that the process (a stamp in a passport) might take from 7 ...

Re: First time passport application

Thanks everyone! I'll wait till they announce updates about the restrictions, if they plan to keep them in place - I'll go with the Stamp 6 -> then a Reentry Visa route, given that the offices will be open. Re getting a first time passport, I had a chat with an agent and it went along these lines: D...

Re: First time passport application

Thanks! Stamp 6 would help if I'd also get an IRP like residence card, otherwise, as you mentioned, airlines or even border check in another country may not let me leave and board the plane. Am I eligible for a reentry visa though? I can email the department I guess. Applying for any other visa is i...

First time passport application

A hypothetical scenario (in my case is real) when someone becomes an Irish citizen, but can't get a passport due to current restrictions even if it's emergency (I spoke to an agent on web chat and they confirmed this). What happens is that the citizen can leave (theoretically) Ireland and use their ...

Re: Children naturalization application

I have applied for my child's citizenship application back in summer, but I can tell it could take a very long time until my son gets the certificate. Now me & my wife are both Irish citizens and I was wondering if I need to update the status for my son? Should I apply for EU Treaty Rights or it is ...

I had already submitted physical card in Jan 2020 as part of submitting documents in the hope of receiving ceremony invitation letter but missed to receive until now. Please s...

Re: Next Ceremony

I'm usually an optimist, but I foresee the following scenario (still not too pessimistic, more realistic): * by spring, early summer they finally get an approval for the affidavit based certificates to be issued * by around the same time we could see progress in C19 vaccinations and some improvement...

Re: IRP expiration & citizenship

Thank you for the reply. We just applied online for the renewal and stating in the description area that my husband was already at the end stage, awaiting the ceremony etc. We didnt need the IRP card to do this, you just need the details and scanned copies of it as well as passport etc. Seems easie...

Re: Next Ceremony

If your IRP card is still valid, you should just write to them and ask them to send it back to you temporarily. qq re this as I couldn't find the answer elsewhere: how does "temporary" work, if we get an IRP back, when do we need to send it to the Naturalisation office again? Once they announce nex...

Re: Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

I agree with the frustration we are all having here, but to be fair I think the delay in announcing the next ceremony has several items to consider: interactions between employees within the Citizenship division are severely slowed down. Some or most of us are now working remotely, we can tell how d...

Re: More than 6 weeks outside the country per year

Hi Pheonix, Thanks for the reply. My understanding was that you need to cover all 10 weeks and not just the excess. So lets says if in Year 2, you were away for 8 weeks, then you have to wait for 8 weeks after 5 years and not 2 weeks ( which is 8-6) to cover the absences. I hope you get approved. M...

Re: More than 6 weeks outside the country per year

Hi Pheonix, I have a question for you. So you mean to say that you didn't apply for citizenship after 5 years? Right? And you wanted for 6th or 7th year once you completed all your more than 6 weeks absences and then you applied in year 7? Is my understanding correct? Please respond? When did you a...

Thanks phoenix49 for sharing your experience , its so helpful when experienced ppl share their experience in the forums. Re: More than 6 weeks outside the country per year

I was in a similar situation and had 1 or 2 years where I was out of country for more than 6 weeks. But that being said, out of those 6 weeks, 3-4 weeks were due to my work activities and business travel - which I couldn't avoid. What I did - split those absences in two and on a sheet I provided two...

Re: Need to travel abroad right after citizenship ceremony

The reason I was asking was that my question to Inis about this was answered that I can use the form for stamp 6 holders, even if it's for citizens with dual citizenship. I didn't want to use an old form found in Google as it may not be accepted, at the same time, wasn't sure if anyone had used the...
