Second Sponsor Information

Post by Abelel » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:11 pm

Hi,

My husband and I are in the process of putting together our spouse visa application for him to come here - almost there with it...

I believe that in addition to me sponsoring him and showing my bank statements, writing a letter etc, that I also need another sponsor.

This can be my parents who are happy to offer their support to us if we found ourselves in problems. However, I can't find much information on what they need to show/provide as evidence of that. I read another post where someone had shown pictures of their parents house as well as details of their own house which I can do as their house is easily big enough for us as well if we ran into trouble, but I am also wondering whether they need to show any financial evidence, statements etc and also what to write in the letter. I'm assuming it doesn't need to be the same level of detail as me, the main sponsor, but I don't know.

Would for example a letter from the bank to say that they have enough money to support us if it ever came to that be enough or do specific amounts need to be mentioned?

Thanks,

A

You are not obliged to have a second (third party) financial sponsor; your post seems to indicate that you think that this is mandatory. If you can't support yourselves from your own resources you may choose to provide details of another person who is willing to offer financial support.

If you will be living with parents then show details of the permission to do that and their accommodations, but if they are not providing financial support (because you don't need this and you have sufficient money yourselves) then you don't need to provide anything of that nature from them.

OK, thanks. Actually I did think it was necessary and was advised by someone who has done it successfully that they had two sponsors.

I was thinking of it more as a safeguard in case something happens to me and I can't fulfil what I can at the moment during the probationary period for example.

I would avoid doing this if you don't actually need it. If you have good finances that you know meet the requirements then just stick to showing mom's property info and leave it at that.
