Shengen visa for Tier 1

Hello,

I am living in UK on Tier 1 visa. I have recently come to the UK on this visa and still in the process of job hunt. I am planning to have a short trip (5-6 days) to paris and swiss till I am free anyway.

Would it be possible for me to apply for shengen visa? I read in the requirement list that I need employer letter or stuff like that.
