Signature differences?

Post by hsmphsmp » Tue Nov 20, 2007 11:34 am

I got married recently and registered my marraige. My wife signed differently using my first & family name as her initial followed her first name.
For ex

My name A.B.XYZ (A being family name & B being my father name)
My wife's name before marriage C.D.JKL

My marriage certificate shows my name as A.B.XYZ
& my wife's name as C.D.JKL (same as before marrige).

But there is a section about what we have signed in the resgistar book,
it says
Signature of Husband : A.B.XYZ (no issue here)
Signature of wife: A.X.JKL

A is my family name and X is the first letter of my first name. She use to sign as C.D.JKL before marriage and she intend to sign so from now on. Only in marriage certifcate we have this issue.

Any one have idea if thsi create issue in getting visa? ANy one know how to rectify this issue?

Hi Victoria,
I am from India and my wife also from India. It is a practice in our country to use husband's first name and his family name as initials for wifes after marriage. the question is she has used it only to sign. the name of my wife is no changed same as before marriage.

I think you will be okay, as long as you explain. The ECO is aware of these cultural nuances.
