Significant achievement

Post by rella » Tue Apr 20, 2004 7:03 pm

Has anyone claimed points for significant achievement? Did you get them? How much evidence did you submit? The threshold sounds pretty high to get those points.

thanks,

I did and I got them. I found the guidance in the leaflet helpful and provided several types of evidence (publications, reviews, articles, testimonials, intellectual property ownership). Pay particular attention to the age clause - something which is considered a sign. achievement for a 25 yo won't be necessarily a sig.ach. for 40 year old. I believe the key is to provide clear, direct and credible evidence, otherwise they won't accept it.

Thanks, hsmphopeful, for the info.

For my husband's HSMP app, we submitted his publications, an industry reference letter and and an academic reference letter, which were both glowing. I'm sure my husband made his own blurb strong enough, since he's not good at tooting his own horn.

I read one post here that said that the HSMP team doesn't like overly thick apps. But in the guidance, it sounded like they wanted entire publications and not abstracts. One of my husband's papers was 29 pages alone! We sent in the entire pubs. Hope it doesn't irritate the caseworker!

Well, I didn't send entire publications: I sent a list of articles, photocopies of tables of contents of the books I wrote and edited, and several reviews. But I don't think sending more than required would negatively impact your app - I think it is better to send more than less...
