Sister-in-law to accompany me to UK on family visa?

Post by Uk2Dubai » Mon Oct 19, 2009 8:03 pm

Hello all,

I recently posted concerning my husband's 10 year ban on applying for a UK visa. This is on-going and as of yet still undecided what to do.

In the meantime, as I am now accepting that I will have to visit my father, who lives in Wales, for the next 10 years by myself, I am considering getting my sister-in-law to apply for a UK visa to accompany me on some trips.

A little background.. my sister-in-law does not work, she lives with myself and my husband, and my husband supports her and myself, as is quite common with muslim families (and to refresh, I am an English woman that converted to Islam).

Questions:

1) My sister-in-law does not use a bank account, she therefore cannot produce bank statements.

ii) What sort of visa could she apply for? She would be coming to the UK to stay with my father and myself for 10 days.

iii) Would my father be able to sponsor her?

iv) What paperwork would she have to produce?

Would really appreciate some advice because for me this would be so lovely to have a companion. Hopefully my husband and I can get our problem solved.

Thanks for any assistance.

:D

She'd have to apply for a visitor's visa.

Your father could sponsor her yes but looking at what you said it would be better for you to sponsor her.

She'd have to show that she will definitely return home, so evidence of a job, family to go back to, house, return ticket bought before leaving her country etc.

Many thanks Meats,

My sister-in-law is not employed at present although she is qualified primary school teacher. She lives with myself and my husband, her brother; next door to us lives her sister, also nearby, another brother and cousins and other related family. My husband rents our home so it's in his name. And of course we would have return tickets although we cannot buy them without her first having a visa.

For me to sponsor her, I do not work as my husband supports me. I do have savings in my UK bank account but I'm not sure whether this would be applicable.

Any further advice would be welcome based on above.

Many thanks.
