skilled worker visa - asking information from the sponsor

Post by Bala16 » Mon Jul 07, 2025 2:52 pm

I received my Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from my sponsor the day before my visa expiry date. I applied for my new visa on the last day of my current visa. I have also completed my biometric appointment.

However, I received an email stating that the Home Office requires additional information from my sponsor regarding my CoS, and that they need more time to make a decision. They mentioned that it could take up to 8 weeks.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of information they might need from the sponsor? My sponsor has not received any email from the Home Office regarding this matter.

Nobody can tell you exactly the information they are looking for. All you can do now is wait. As long as you have done everything correctly on your side and sponsor is compliant with the relevant requirements, you should be fine.

I lived in a property owned by my sponsor as a paying guest and later moved to another property also owned by him. During that time, I worked for other companies, and now I am being sponsored by him directly. My previous address history matches the company's address. Could this raise any concerns or doubts? Or is it now common for the Home Office to conduct interviews for everyone?

The Home Office will contact the sponsor to ask the specific information required. It's difficult to say what sort of information they need. You need to wait for the outcome.

It's not very common for UKVI to interview migrant workers when they apply for a Skilled Worker visa in the UK. However, being interviewed doesn't mean that the application will not proceed.

What is the occupation you are getting sponsored for and what industry? Are you related in any way to the owner of the company? Depending on the set up of the company, it is important to separate the sponsor ( the company) from the owner. Although they might be the same, especially if it a one-man business, but technically, the company as an entity is your sponsor and not the owner in his individual capacity. How did you get the job? Advertised and interviewed or were you just handpicked based on your relationship with the owner? Have you been informed that you will be interviewed? Again, no one knows what UKVI is looking for but based on the information you have provided, these are the things I could think of. You just have to wait and see how things go.
