Skilled worker visa Extension & ILR

Post by JustinMaj » Sun Mar 02, 2025 7:48 pm

Hi, I am on a Skilled Worker visa and will soon be eligible to apply for ILR. I have two dependents—my wife and my son—who won’t be eligible for settlement yet, so they will need to extend their dependent visas. I am wondering whether we can all submit our applications at the same time (mine for ILR and theirs for visa extensions), or if I need to obtain my ILR first.

There is no gap between me becoming eligible and our visa expiration dates (I am eligible on 28 May 2027, and our visas are valid until 3 June 2027). I am concerned they may be considered overstayers.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation or can share information to resolve my doubts?

Their application will be held until yours is decided. You do not need to get ILR first
