Bank Statements

Post by board2018 » Tue Dec 22, 2020 9:32 pm

Quick question about bank statements for ILR
I’m applying tomorrow and we noticed a few days ago my husbands original bank statements were not being delivered as the bank decided to turn off paper statements.
I have two options now regarding this -
1. Ask him to print off an online statement which is easy for him to do from NatWest. They do say printed online on the bottom of the statement. And will not be stamped as printed online.
2. Phone NatWest and they sent him a statement for 6 months. This is one statement from July to December again not stamped but does not say ‘printed online’. We received this yesterday from NatWest through the app.

Unfortunately it’s been difficult with the post recently and we have not been able to receive the post so unsure what to submit.

I bank with Lloyds and fortunately all the statements from online look exactly like the paper copies I get at home so it’s been easy for me. The most recent pay in December I went to Lloyds and asked them to stamp the statement for me.

Just unsure what to do with my husbands bank statements. Don’t want to get it wrong. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you

I went to NatWest today to get a bank statement for the same purpose. I asked the statement to be stamped and staff did it without any issues. literately, it took me 10 minutes.

Can't you just walk into your NatWest local branch?

If you are applying for ILR (assuming you are main applicant) and have your bank statement then why do you need your husband's bank statement?

Is it for cohabitation proofs? Is he applying along with you?
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

We went in and they said they don’t do it in the branch. They said they won’t post it to the home address. It’s been over 3 weeks and nothing received yet.

Only main applicant's pay slip & bank statement are needed for ILR. It's not clear whether you are main applicant or your husband or whether you both applying on your own Tier 2 to ILR applications.

Since the inception of new online system in Nov 2018, all evidence can be originals or copies. It is very common for bank statements to be digital these days. A couple banks mark them as online copies but I do not see an issue in that. As long the bank statements are genuine you are okay with the online versions even if it says “online copy.” Given, corona, it is very unreasonable to expect applicants to go to banks for stamps.
The FM-SE states:
(1) on official bank stationery; or
(2) electronic bank statements which are either accompanied by a letter from the bank on its headed stationery confirming that the documents are authentic or which bear the official stamp of the issuing bank on every page.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration ... d-evidence

I believe these rules are not updated. As I said, with the new online system, all online evidence is accepted now. However, you can submit the combined hard copy you received from Nat west also to be on the safe side.

HO can not refuse you on this basis anyways. If there are issues, CW should request originals or carry checks with the bank itself to check the authenticity (very unlikely though).

Just submit the online versions, you will be okay.

Copy documents accepted for all applications e.g. partner & Tier 2
Under the current Immigration Rules, Applicants need to submit originals of the supporting documents specified in the Immigration Rules e.g. pay slips and bank statements.

From 5 November Applicants will be able to submit copies of documents rather than the originals.

This will save Applicants the hassle of obtaining original documents and also, for out of country applications, the cost and risk of posting or couriering their original documents from one country to another as copies will be accepted.

If you are intending to submit an application you may decide to wait until after 5 November 2018 to benefit from these changes.

Anyone who has submitted an immigration application to the Home Office in recent years will be well aware of the requirement to submit original documents and the difficulties this can present.

The Statement of Changes in the Immigration Rules (HC 1534) contains numerous clauses which remove or substitute the word ‘original’ in reference to the mandatory documents required for an immigration application.

Where the word ‘original’ has been substituted, this has primarily been amended to ‘may be originals or copies’. This therefore means that an individual is no longer required to obtain or submit original documents in support of an application for leave to remain or enter the UK.

The option to submit copy documents in immigration applications filed from 5 November 2018 in place of originals is good news to applicants who are likely to experience difficulties in obtaining original documents. For example, it can be difficult to obtain a document with original wet signatures if those who need to sign it are in different countries. It is also often time-consuming to obtain original bank statements now that many people bank online. These difficulties can lead to a delay in filing the application or, in certain cases, a refusal of an application where an original document was not filed. This will also remove the risk of a precious original document being lost or misplaced during the application process.

Sopra Steria Enquiry

Post by board2018 » Thu Dec 24, 2020 7:12 pm

Hi everyone
I had a question to ask. This evening we have submitted and paid for our ILR application under partner route.
We then went to the third party website and uploaded all our documents. We have NOT clicked on the final button which does not allow you to upload any more documents.
Due to restrictions for appointments we have paid for an appointment at the centre. Only available appointment was on the 20th January.

My question is based on the dates of my documents. I can upload documents 48 hours until the appointment - 18th Jan 2021. How does this relate to my payslips, bank statements, employment letters etc as they will all be out by a month by then?

Should I only consider all my documents until the 24th Dec as I submitted my application and paid for it today?

Self-submission is OPTIONAL. If you want to benefit from the new feature, you must upload and self-submit up to 48hrs before the appointment. If you do NOT want to self-submit, you can upload ANYTIME before the appointment date and submit at the appointment itself. Self-submission is recommended as you may save some processing time - your documents are sent to UKVI even before biometrics in this case. You can self-submit only ONCE. But if you forget to upload any documents, you can always upload later on (after self-submission) and submit at the appointment then (you will not be able to self-submit again but can submit at appointment).

Read “self-submit” “submit” “upload”

Reference point should be the date of application when you paid and submitted your application. All documents should be dated before that i.e. 24th Dec. Jan not needed.

The above appears to be in good order. Hope your correspondences are well spaced at about 3-4 months and you only need for last 2 years, not 2.5yrs.
