South Africa police certificate

Post by Irishspouse » Sat Feb 22, 2025 2:34 pm

Hello,

I would appreciate some advice.

I have applied for Irish citizenship may 2024. I am originally from South Africa and moved with my Irish husband Aug 2020 to Ireland. I was asked for additional documents Nov 24 which I submitted. I have now been asked for a South African Police certificate. I have one already from 2022 and I haven't lived in SA since (I have visited twice since for 2 weeks each since 2022).

Getting a South African police certificate is a massive pain - money and time wise.

Do you think the 2022 Police certificate would be OK seeing as I haven't been resident in SA since 2020 or will I have to just get a new one which can take months?

Thanks for any input
