Spanish Visa processing time

Post by yulia » Sun Sep 16, 2007 3:19 pm

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone applied for a visa recently at Spanish Consulate?

When I went there they said to me that visa will take 15 days!!!! I was really surprised as there were not any notification on their website that it takes so long to process.

I am very concern, as i applied for a visa on 10th September and supposed to go away on 21st, which is obviously less than 15 days.

So was just wondering.... does it really take 15 days ot it is maximum processing time?

many thanks in advance

U r one in a long line....

TBH there's nothing u can do notwithstanding the Spanish Consulate is possibly the worst of the lot....

Unless u try for anecdotally easier French schengem visa and transit via France.

Or, if u r married to an EU cit, u don't need any visa, according to directives but of course u know that cos us searched here first.

My husband is british, but of course i made a research after i have gone to Spanish consulate.

So now i do not have my passport, as Spanish consulate kept it to process visa. They also told me that the fact that they took my documents would not guarantee a visa. Can they reject my application if I am married to EU citizen?

Basically, i just wanted to know what my chances are to get the passport ready within 11 days rather than 15 (hope their 15 include weekend days).

I know that I should have made a proper research earlier, but it is a bit late now.

If you are married and will be travelling together, you are almost guaranteed to get the visa. If you are from specific countries (Colombia, Iraq, Iran, ...), it usually takes two or three weeks for the visa to be issued.

First, you don't need a visa (read my reply to the other topic you placed). Second, if you are the family member of an EEA national you cannot be denied a vsa, it should be free and issued as soon as possible. Make a fuss and get your passport back, show the directve to the consulate!

Me and my wife are in a similar position.

We are flying to Barcelona on 24th Feb earliest visa appointment we got was 11th Feb. I am UK citizen she is Chinese National on 2 year UK residency visa.

Anyone got any experience of how long it takes the spanish to issue a visa after the appointment?
