Spellings of Name

Post by virgoguy » Wed Aug 22, 2007 7:26 am

Hello,

I have a small question& problem: please share your feedback and experiences

My surname can be spelt in 2 ways with an additional "a" and sometimes without it. On my passport, salary statements, bank statements I have the surname with the "a" and on my degree ceritificate it is without the "a''

example: Mehra, and Mehraa

Its too late to change anything now :-(

Will this cause a problem? I am thinking of mentioning this in a letter, and hoping it works. Have anybody of you had this problem?

thanks in Advance

Get an affidavit done from the notary explaining your names being used differently in some documents but belongs to the same person.

Hi,

I had the same problem, I applied for the HSMP in September 2004, got refused unfortunately, now applying again....

M ysurname can also be spelt in two different ways, i have just mentioned it in my cover letter, emphasising that this is because of te way it is spelt in my native language. I did not have problems because of that last time, the reason the application was refused was that i did not provide sufficent evidence for my senior level work experience (this category is dismissed now)... So i don' think you will have problems with your name spelling, just explain why this is this the case in your cover letter

Good luck!!! :)
