Hi,

My friend got admission for PhD in UK. Her visa letter indicated that all of the tuition fee paid and she awarded a scholarship equal to tuition plus 6400 GBP. As she are going to study outside London, she needs 5400 GBP for maintenance. Therefore, her scholarship covers both Fee and Maintenance. Then, she could apply for Tier 4 only with this visa letter and there is no need to any bank statement?

I update my post:
The scholarship covers 11000 Fee plus 6400 annually and renewable for more two years (total 3 years). Conditional on satisfactory progress.
In visa letter the course duration is 4 years, then my friend should provide proof of fund for the forth year?
In addition in appendix should she indicate her visa letter as proof of official sponsorship and therefore 0.00 GBP as due payment?

I was in the same situation some time back. I did put 0.00 in the section of remaining fees.

Although the amount of the scholarship covered the necessary funds for me to get the points, I did attach my bank statements anyway. I think it does not hurt to demonstrate that you have extra money and that you are not an economic migrant.

Results: I got my visa in 4 working days and I am happily in the UK doing my research!
