Spouce Visa question

My American wife got her spouse visa back in Dec 2012. but her daughters visa wasn't issued till march 2013 (after an appeal) but my wife and her daughter haven't been able to settle in the UK due to her nan being very unwell and needed looking after, then My wife her self being sick/unwell. My wife has visited myself in the UK in may and December 2013 but still resides in USA at the moment due to her nans condition.

My question is, Will my wife have a problem getting an extension or resetting her date, so she can stay in the UK for 2 years then apply to live in the UK after the 2 years?

She should return and extend before her current leave expires.

will she have any problems extending seems she has spent such little time in the UK, and let em make clear when my wife visited in May and Dec it was only for a week - 10 days
