i will be very happy if they call me soon say come to embassy have visa for ur wife and for ur child only i am worry be tolong in hotel in ankara then embassy refuse my wife and my child visa , do u now a probleam is when i got tikt from erbil to ankara is my return day to erbil .28/01/2012 my wife and my child got turkish visa only for one month but min for 3month do u think we should wait in turky or go bak to iraq when they inform me come bak to ankara again? thanx directive

That is why I think you should have tried to apply in Iraq near your wife's home!

I suspect that for a core set of nationalities, Iraqi included, the visa application is sent to Berlin to be processed. So it would likely take the whole two weeks, I would guess.

I guess the problem is that that your wife and child will need their passport to travel back to Iraq. So they will need to remain and wait until they get them back from the embassy. Is that correct?

thanx for reply , when i was in iraq i was email to to german embassy in erbil and german embassy in iran ,they email me bak and told only u can apply in ankara ,so when we apply in ankara they did not take my wife and my child passport , only they take visa applacation form and document , we my just stay in ankara tomorow maybe go bak to iraq we got return tikt 28/01/2012. what do u think directive? thank u somuch

What I think does not matter much.

A bit depends on what you plan. Will you travel with them to Germany? Will you all fly out of Iraq or out of Turkey?

If I were doing this...:

If you will all fly out of Ankara soon for Germany, then you can all travel back to Ankara, get the visa and get on the plane.

If they will be travelling seperately later or all flying together out of Iraq, then I would probably check with the German embassy again and ask them if you could pick up the passport of your wife and child when then visa has been issued. Ask them to contact you by email when that is done. I would then go back to Iraq and settle in with the baby at home. And when the visa is issued, you go with their passports back to Ankara to get the visa issued and bring it back to them in Iraq.

Anyways, these are just my thoughts on the matter. What matters a lot more are your plans for travel.

yes we all trvel to germany out of ankara if we go bak to iraq and we will waite until german embassy inform me by phone or by email then we will come bak to ankara colect a visa ang we all travel to germany.

Good times!

When you arrive in Germany, there is no rush, you need to do two things:

(a) register her new residential address ("Anmeldung") in Germany at the city hall (Rathaus) just like you have done and every German is required to do.


and then (b) apply for a Residence Card.

For the Residence Card, she will go to the same place where you got your "registration as an EU worker" done. She will need to have with her:
(1) Her passport, and the passport of the baby
(2) Your passport
(3) The marriage certificate
(4) the Anmeldung certificate
(5) A copy of your registration as an EU worker
They need nothing else and you should generally refuse to provide anything else. They do not need any indication of how much money you make nor of how much space you have where you live, and you should definitely refuse to provide this information.

The Residence Card should be processed quickly and you will get the card about 4 weeks later in the ?? mail.

hi directive . we are all in germany now . my wife and my child got (anmeldung) aply for residence permit they give us appointment for 23 /03/2012 and what they want from us .1) proof of income ( living subsistance).2)confirmation of th the employer stating the kind and period of the occupation 3) letting contract of the flat .4)receipt or statement of account showing the last effected rent payment.5)cost 150 € . thanx directive for your advice

They are wrong here. But should be easy to fight.

Couple of questions:
(1) Exactly what do they think your wife is applying for?
(2) What exactly was the $150 for? Is it $75 for each of your wife and your child?
(3) Does your wife want to work immediately?
(4) Why the very late appointment? It is almost 2 months from now...

So, the good news is that your wife is legally in Germany and she can (in theory) work or do whatever she wants. So you should have no uncertainty there.

She is applying for what, in English, is called a Residence Card. It is merely a document that confirms her already existing right to stay in Germany. That is why it is not called a Permit, since there is no permission involved.

You can, if you want, wait until the appointment comes. But they should really be seeing you right away. There is no provision for them to put this off.

How quickly did they see you and process your card when you started working? Was it the same office you went to original and that your wife went to?

thanx directive . yes we went to same place when i went in first time. and they give us tow (application for issue or prolonation of residence permit ) and i have lwyer come with me on that day he said is very esy should be no probleam.

When you originally went to register your (working!) presence in Germany, how long did you have to wait for an appointment?

When did you have the lawyer come with you? Last week or when you first went alone?

thanx directive, first time take me one day ther is not apointment was strate way. we went this time with my cosin who live in munchen and speak german then afater that speak to lwyer he said i come with u on 23/03

A lawyer will likely be very expensive. And there is no need!

So how long did it take you, the EU worker, to get your appointment and get confirmation that you were working?

If possible answer this on a computer where it is easier to type clearly.
