Spousal visa application on Maternity Cover contract

Post by Jacquimoz » Thu Aug 14, 2014 11:41 am

Hi

I was wondering if anybody can help? I am a UK citizen and my partner is South African, we are soon to be applying for his visa to come to join me in the UK. We meet all of the requirements however my work contract is currently a maternity cover contract and we are not sure if this may be an issue? I work as teacher/ instructor at a further eductation college and although my contract of employment does not state a specific date that my employment will end, it just states that on return of the position holder. By the time we make the application (requiring the 6 month payslips) it could only have a few months (3-6) left however, it is likely that I will be posted in another position within the same organisation.

Has anybody made an application when on a maternity cover contract? I could possibly get a letter signed by my manager stating that if/when the original post holder returns I will be moved into another position within the College. What does anybody think our chances are of the application being accepted as we do not want to make the application if it is likely to be refused.
Please somebody reply as I am currently stressing about this as I just want us to be back together (I used to live/work over there).

Thanks

The most important thing is that you meet the financial requirement of 18600 and have worked for 6 months b4 your application and working after.if getting the letter stating you'll be moved to another post will guarantee you're still working with them, why not.

That's fine. Although there is no actual date - fixed term contracts are accepted so yours should be also. Technically anyone's job could end within a few months, we can't predict the future!
