UK Spousal Visa - How much money do we need

Post by brojoe » Mon Jan 28, 2008 9:36 pm

Theres two main issues here please help.

I am a Zimbabwean on a UK Student visa. I got married last year in Zimbabwe and am planning to get my Wife as a dependant on visa and come to UK. On the issue of proving our finance:

1) How much savings is acceptable as 'sufficient proof' that we won't depend on public funds

2) Can I use an external sponsor like my dad (staying in Uk to sponsor us i.e provide statements and letter to certify that)?

3) What are the acceptable sources of funds (say in the event I raise the required sum of money) where can I say it has come from, since I'm only allowed 20 hrs per week.

Thanks so much for your reply. This forum is so helpful. On point number 2 , I want to double check as theres many people on this forum that say a third party sponsor is not permissible. What do you make of it and do you have anywhere it says that?
