BRP is required?

Post by abnfire1 » Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:14 pm

I have recently received ILR and waiting for BRP, I wanted to apply for british citizenship via spouse route.

My BRP still havent received yet, do I need to wait for BRP to arrive or can I apply without it?

You need your BRP as proof of the fact you have ILR.

spouse passport copy of all pages?

Post by abnfire1 » Thu Oct 31, 2024 11:48 am

Following is what has been asked me to provide as documents:
1. Your marriage or civil partnership certificate
You can send a photocopy of your spouse or partner’s passport - you must photocopy every page of the passport.

2. One proof of British citizenship for Mr xxxx... (such as a passport or UK citizenship certificate)
I'm providing marriage certificate as proof

second proof, do I need to provide british passport frontpage copy only or do I need to scan all the pages and attach them all?

also my BRP hasn't came yet from ILR application, but it was approved. Can I still apply for citzenship without it?

Likely you will not receive a BRP.

From today, UKVI will no longer issue BRPs. (PS: Mods could consider adding this to the eVisa/BRP dedicated post)
We will stop issuing any new BRP cards from 31 October 2024.
You might be able to use the ILR reference number or any other details to apply. Lodge an application and follow the instructions on the form. Any questions you can post them here.

I am not sure that applies to BRPs obtained for a recent leave application - from how it is worded it seems to apply to people who want a replacement BRP. As OP applied before today and the application was granted I would say it is reasonable to expect to receive a BRP.

That applies to any BRP card, replacement or not. UKVI updated their eVisa portal with that note a few days ago, perhaps they need to be less vague and more specific on this. See also the UK Parliament website.
Physical residence permits will no longer be issued from 31 October 2024 and almost all existing ones have an expiry date of 31 December 2024.
If you see the posts about timelines e.g. ILR, many have received their approvals this month and literally none received a new BRP - or at least they have not reported a card receipt.

IMHO it's reasonable to stop issuing BRP cards now, at this point it's just a waste of resources producing cards valid only for two months (or less).

The problem here is what people will do if they need to travel between now and 31-12-2024. Dealing with carriers staff abroad can be a bit of a challenge.

Definitely they should be handling this with more clarity - I am not disagreeing with your point, more pointing out the ambiguity of the whole process.

Is passport main photocopy is enough or do I need to copy all the pages of the passport?

Biometric page should be enough, or certificate of naturalisation/registration for your spouse.
