I am from afghanistan settled in the UK. my wife applied for a visa to join me in April 2009. Her application was refused by UK Hub in London within three days. We appealed around end of April 2009. The appeal was heard on 23/Sept/09 and was allowed begining of October 2009. Call letter was sent to the wrong address on the 4th of December and I had a really hard time contacting the visa section at BHC in Islamabad. I had to wake up at 3 am everyday for two weeks and call BHC and the bloody operator put me through the bloody automatic machine. Finally one of them was kind enough to transfer my call to the visa section and after some more trouble, they sent me the call letter by fax. My wife submitted her passport begining of Jauary 2010 and her visa was issued about 20th of February 2010.
There is some good news. The blacklog has now been cleared and settlement applications take between 8 and 12 weeks to process. The whole appeal process, however still remains long and tiring. I have been visiting this site quiet regularly, but today thought I should post my story and wish everyone success with their applications or the applications of their loved ones.
Best wishes to all. H from Birmingham
