Spouse of BC

Post by gollyb » Fri Jan 27, 2012 4:36 pm

My husband is getting citizenship this May. I was on an independent visa and became his dependent only this year (hence, on limited leave as spouse). But, I have lived in the UK for over 9 years on student+HSMP and of that as a married couple for over 8 years. Could you please advise me whether I can also apply for the citizenship soon after him (as spouse of a BC), or do I need to get ILR first. The website specifies 3 years residence requirement but I’m not sure whether this has to be specifically on the ‘spouse’ visa category. In other words, I have been married to a BC for over 3 years, and has been in the UK for over 3 years (but not on the spouse visa). Thanks a lot in advance for your views.
