Spouse Tier 2 (Work Allowed or not)

Post by kamranmustufa » Mon Feb 22, 2016 2:57 pm

Hi

I am on Tier 2 visa since April 2014. My wife is doing her MBBS in Pakistan which is finishing in December this year.

We came to know that she has to do her Housejob in Pakistan after MBBS and then come and do PLAB. If she come without housejob, she has to wait for 5 years here to get ILR and then do housejob in UK. I want to confirm if it's right.

Thanks

She cannot work as a Dentist or Doctor in training on a Tier 2 Dependent visa.

if she doesnt do house job in pak, she will have to do 2 year foundation program here (which falls under training) and she is not allowed to take that on dependent visa. Furthermore, it will be very difficult for her to get that as well, as priority is given to local gradautes.
her best option is to finish house job in pak (especially that it is 1 year long there as opposed to 2 years here).

She can however do her plab anytime she wants. Ideally she should start preparing for plab now and and clear at elast first part during her house job. She also has to give ielts, with certain min score (usually around 7 in each, but may have increased to 7.5 in each module, check on gmc website).
