Universal Credit before Spouse visa application

Post by Woodyd » Tue Dec 04, 2018 7:23 pm

In January I will be applying for a spouse visa for my wife. I recently got a wage increase and also earned overtime, which will mean that I should achieve the minimum income over six months as a non-salaried sponsor. I have also received some Universal Credit payments, and I know these won't count as income. Will these payments (which I assume are a new form of Working/Child Tax credit) cause any problems when I apply for a spouse visa? Any advice would be a great help. Thanks.

Change job during Spouse visa application

Post by Woodyd » Mon Dec 17, 2018 5:21 pm

Can anyone tell me if it's a bad idea for the UK sponsor to change local employer after submitting a spouse visa application, but before the visa is approved?

Not advisable as your employer will be required to confirm in writing that the terms of your employment are ongoing. Also the Case Worker may contact your employer for confirmation that you are still employed.

Ok, many thanks. Just got a better job offer next year, but it will have to wait (hopefully not too long) :|

Spouse visa pay entries

Post by Woodyd » Wed Dec 26, 2018 4:56 am

I work for Company X, formerly known as Company Y of the same address, owner, staff etc. All my payslips show Company X on them, but my bank statements show sometimes Company X or Company Y.

The earnings payments match, just with different company names. I have no idea why. Could this affect my Spouse visa application? Thanks

ps. should I have started a new post for this?

Spouse visa queries

Post by Woodyd » Mon Dec 31, 2018 9:26 pm

I have a few questions about Spouse visa if you don't mind:

- I get paid weekly one week in arrears (my work contract states this). Do I start my payslips from the date on the payslip and count 26 weeks forward, or maybe include one from the week before for 27 weeks?

- I get paid weekly in varied amounts - am I in the non-salaried category? I have earned more than the minimum required by including overtime payments. Appendix 2 has only questions about 'salaried' employment (3A) - don't I need to claim 'non-salaried' income to meet the requirement? Where would I specify this?

- Is the 28-day rule from the day I submit the Application online, or complete Bio-metric scan, or other?

- Can I send photocopies to Sheffield for everything except payslips, bank statements, employer letter? Wasn't there a change in the law about this recently?

- Do I need to send a prepaid return envelope to Sheffield?

- It seems like quite a few people have their documents reported missing by the case workers. Is there any 'check-and-send' facility anyone knows of? Maybe at the Post Office or your bank for a a 3rd party to verify number of docs send?

Thanks for any help or ideas.

Spouse visa Bio docs

Post by Woodyd » Sat Jan 05, 2019 4:27 pm

I'm about to submit my online Application from UK, but have a few concerns, if anyone can advise.

Does my spouse (abroad) need to take any supporting documents to her Bio appointment? I thought I submit them to Sheffield from here in UK - I have them all with me here. I am worried there won't be time to send docs back and forth from UK to her home country.

Does she need to send anything to me after her biometrics appointment? Can it be scanned and emailed?
