My husband (British) and I (US) are settling in the UK this coming summer. We're currently both outside the UK.
My appointment isn't for about two months but I wanted to do an early document check:
For my application I'm including:
Passport
Husband's Passport
Passport photo
Fee (725 euro!)
Letter from me
Accommadation
Letter from sponsor's parents inviting us to stay at their house
Parents council tax statement on house
Land registry (via the internet)
Finance
CVs + education certificates
List of job adverts
Current work contracts (outside UK)
Four payslips of sponsor
Three bank statements showing current account (1000 pounds)
One statement showing balance of ISA investment account
(15,000 pounds)
One statement showing balance of long term saving account
(11,000 pounds)
(No P60 as sponsor wasn't in UK last year)
Relationship
Marriage certificate (notarized copy)
Letter of support from sponsor
Photos
Skype calls
Emails
2 flat contracts showing cohabitation
Have I missed anything?
Thanks!

Looks pretty good but if you want specific advice you should ask an advisor as we can't see your documents and such.
Also it would be best to include photos of the inside of the house and measurements to show that it will not be overcrowded.
I tell it like it is.

thanks.
maybe i can get my mother in law to take some photos of the house for me.
The things that concern me a little are the fact that I can only get 1 statement for the investment and long term savings account (because they are issued on a 6 month basis).
Also, the accounts are only in my husband's name. The bank wouldn't let me be added on to the account since I don't live in the UK yet.
Do you know what the deal is with third party support for accommodation?
Another post said that it wasn't being allowed anymore.

Third party support for the purposes of accommodation was always allowed. Now a recent judgement has been passed that any kind of third party support is allowed. There hasn't been any official guidance posted on ukba yet though.
Are you applying for ILE or a spousal visa?
I tell it like it is.

spouse.
my husband just received a place to study for his masters and i want to get my pgce in about two years so we decided moving back in the summer would be best.
we're staying at his parents for only 2 months and then moving into uni housing (though we dont have proof of this yet).
do you think I should let the ukba know this... as in, would it make a difference to my application if they knew this?

You should deffinitely mention that you will live elsewhere after two months. So that you are not seen to be using deception. I think you should get all the proof of accommodation before you apply. It's important that you have a letter or a contract from the dorms or wherever you'll be staying together after you move out of your parents' house.

ok... our application for student housing might be refused though.
If this happens we won't be able to go flat hunting until June (when I actually want to enter the UK).
The other thing is that my husband is being paid in cash right now so there's no regular input/output in his bank account.
And there's no way to change this since there's no HSBC here and we're not going to open an account here (accounts here are taxed)
Is this going to mess us up?

It's very important to show bank statements. This is a requirement. Otherwise there is no way that you can show that you will manage on the money that you have.

OK OK OK.... I KNOW IM BEING A BIT FANATIC ABOUT THIS, BUT PLEASE BEAR WITH ME.
I'm hoping some knows the answer to my inane questions.
It will probably save me about 200 pounds at a solicitor's.
Situation:
My husband and I have been living together since October of last year.
BUT, we don't have a flat contract (the flat is provided through our work, though it's not in our contract).
Question:
Could a letter from the landlady, along with his identity card, and my receipt for a eu family residence card (both to the same address) be used as evidence that we are living together instead?
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU!

on the VAF4 there is a list of documents that can be provided as proof of address that include; letter from government department (such as coding notice from HMRC), utility bills (electric, gas, telephone - landline not mobile) etc.
