Spouse visa - duration...

Hi:

We live (and have lived for quite a while) outside the UK. If/when my husband gets a Settlement visa, how long can we wait before we enter the UK together? Is it possible for him to wait and apply for jobs and once a job is secured, then move together?

Is it neccessary to have accomodation available when we apply for the visa? If yes, can it be on rent (say for 3-4 months)?

Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.
