Spouse Visa- Financial Requirement

Post by Tom_6283 » Thu Mar 14, 2019 3:53 am

Hi everyone,

At the end of February finished my job abroad, that lasted 2.5 years, and in which I earned an annual salary of around £30,000. I lived with wife, who I have been married to since 2014, abroad where I was working, along with our child, who is a British Citizen, and is just over 2 years old.

Now I am currently with them in her home country of Egypt. I am planning to travel back to the UK by the end of this month. Currently I do not have a job offer but I should be able to secure a job within a month of coming back to the UK, that earns at least the £22,400 required to sponsor a wife and child for the spouse visa.

Regarding the financial requirements for the visa, since I have earned the minimum amount required during the past 12 months of my overseas employment, would I meet the financial requirements of the visa as soon as a secure a job in the UK that earns at least £22,400, even though it will not have lasted 6 months at that point in time?

Look forward to hearing from you

Many thanks for your help

You need confirmed job offer in the UK which meets the minimum income level of £18,600, to start within 3 months of your arrival.

As your child is British, they aren't included in the earnings calculation.

Thank you so much for your reply... so it doesn’t matter that I’ve already finished by job abroad at the end of last month and that I am now currently in a different country (to see my wife and child)... I can apply for the visa for my wife just with the UK job offer letter, while visiting a different country to that in which my previous job was? Also, does it matter if I return back to the UK first before beginning the job, and before I make the visa application?
