This site has been very helpful. My wife and I are very grateful for all the information that is on here. I owe it all to the people here that have posted and have given information.
I returned to my home country (Zimbabwe) in September 2015 to apply for a spouse Visa.
I had tried everything in in terms of applications in the UK, unsuccessfully. We lost thousands of pounds on application fees and Lawyer fees. One thing I must mention is that there are very bad lawyers out there that just prey on people in unfortunate circumstances,so after 2 attempts with lawyers and another appeal with a 3rd lawyer we finally accepted that the only way was to return to Zimbabwe.
I returned with my (British citizen)wife and she stayed with me for a week as she had to return to work. In that time we managed to complete the application and get all our documents sorted out and in order before she left(WITHOUT A LAWYER). I sent my application a week after she left .
On the 10th of November I got a notification email saying that a decision had been made,My wife and I had a sleepless night nervous about what the decision was). My sister told me that sometimes the documents will already be on their way to the Visa center when the email arrives so because I was very eager to know the decision I literally went to the center the next day and waited for mail to arrive and sure enough my documents were returned with a visa granted.
Being back in Zimbabwe without knowing when I would see my wife again was a very stressful time but looking back on it this was a very good decision as now we are able to pursue our dreams of building a life together without worrying about other things.
If there is anyone still on the fence about returning to their home country my advice would be,DO IT. A few months of pain is better that 10 years,as long as you are genuine everything will work out.
Thank you again to everyone.
