Spouse visa help please

Post by damo0192 » Tue Mar 23, 2010 3:09 pm

I need to be reunited with myCanadian girlfriend who has just gone back to canada after living with me for 2 years. The origanal plan was to go with bunac a tempoaray visa company that allows you too visit and work for a year but i missed the cut off point so im now trying to get a spouse visa.
Its hard to speak to anyone directly and im worried about a conviction from 2002 for DUI and if it will affect me.
I found a company called global visa but it will cost me about £2000 in total just to get it all done but they claim they will have it all sorted in about 6 weeks.
My question is this...what would be the fastest and most cheapest way to get to canada and be reunited with my partner and be able to live and work there.
Im willing to get married if it makes the visa application easier and cheaper.
And if i did marry her could i just go there on short stay get married and then apply there or would the process be more difficult. I just want to be with my partner as fast as possible and the cheapest as im not mega rich and would need my savings to give me a start in canada as i dont have no job right away to go too although i can live with her.

Thanks for reading :D

You would want to look at the CIC website (www.cic.gc.ca) first and get all the basic information. Canadian immigration application is usually not that difficult, but you need to understand whats needed. However, your DUI conviction could be an issue.

I have never heard of a visa sorted out wihin six weeks, even the most straight forward cases. Six weeks, when you have a DUI conviction, sounds like your lawyer is trying to blow smoke up your skirt.

damo0192, I do appreciate that you have posted this in the Canada section, and you are asking about you getting a visa for Canada, but have the two of you considered you both living in the UK? That is, your fiancée getting a spouse visa to live in the UK?

Couldnt really consider living in the uk ive had enough grey skys to last me a lifetime and think we would be both happier in canada.......If i flew out to canada and married her right away how long would it take to be able to work and get a visa that way does anyone know?
I could apply the spouse visa route from here but unless i use a company that is gonna charge me silly money i feel it would take me forever applying myself because of my dui conviction and dont want to be apart any longer than i have too and really worried it gets rejected.
