Hi there,
My partner and I are looking to apply for my first series of spousal visas. We are not sure we will meet the £18,600 threshold and he is likely going to be a carer for a very ill relative.
He is going tomorrow to check on benefits he may be entitled to in order to in order to care for this person full-time.
I know we need to meet the £114 per week requirement.
However, there are a few things I'm confused about:
1) since I already live here and with him (I was a student and am now on the DES scheme), would the rent be tabulated as both of our rents or just his share? (We split 50/50.)
2) How many months has he had to be in his role as carer? I keep seeing just one, but we both feel like with everything else with the application, this is "too easy."
3) If we use additional income, how long will we have had to be making it? Does it matter? Or is it just that month?
4) I am self-employed working in my own limited company (YES this is allowed on the DES scheme). It says you can use that for adequate maintenance, but I'm very confused as to how, as it also wants all of your audited accounts. We can provide that, but how would that income factor in to the £114 per week? Would I show it for the month after we've done our taxes for our June-June tax year?
