On Stamp 4, can I go study in UK and come back to Ireland?

Post by Angel592 » Wed Sep 21, 2011 2:13 pm

So I want to study in the UK this year, and I have Irish residency Stamp 4.. waiting for my Irish passport should be getting it any time now :)
Anyway, I was wondering, is it illegal for me to go study in the UK as I will obviously not be in the country for some periods? I'm on Stamp 4. I plan to come back n visit my family every couple of fortnights or so. I'll be back home quite frequently!

Any views are welcome :)

On what basis your stamp 4 issued If it is issued as temporary basis after green card when you want to renew you don't have to present p60 so you can renew easily. If you think by the end of expiry of your current stamp 4 you get the passport then there is no problem of what so ever. Just make sure you have the multiple entry. If the stamp 4 is issued on basis of any other I don't know how the extension works in case you don't get citizenship before the expiry of your current stamp 4

Well, I actually grew up here, lived here all my life.. I got Stamp 4 because I've got 3 Irish born siblings.. I finished my primary and secondary level education here and I just wanted to go to the UK for university. My Stamp 4 doesn't expire till next August 2012, and I'm eligible for Stamp 5 WCATT, I just haven't applied for it yet cuz I'm expecting my passport sometime this year? And I do have mulitple re-entry visa. So if I go study in the UK, I wouldn't be doing anything illegal would I? :)

No nothing illegal. If you are eligible for WCATT why don't you apply it's free of cost it's just a suggestion. I think you won't face any problem studying in UK .

Really. I didn't know that it's free of cost. Cuz my mom has it and I THINK she had to pay something around 500 euros.

Yeah, I should be applying for the student visa soon :) I was just wondering if it would be a problem with the Irish immigration, me leaving. But hopefully not :) I'll be back quite frequently :)
