Standard Visitor visa for Ukrainian citizen

Post by hml9 » Sat Apr 16, 2016 7:47 pm

Hello,

Me, my wife and my son are UK citizens. We have had my mother in law with us 3 times since 2010, 4/5 months each time, the last time being 2012.

She has extremely limited means and we have statement in the invitation letters that we took her in charge totally.

A last visa application in 2014 was refused, because I wrote "6 months -5 days" in the application form's field about the duration of stay. She had added a letter from her employer and her ownership of a flat in the Ukraine.

The rejection letter said that the duration was too long: 6 months and 5 days, while we intended it to mean 6 months minus 5 days. Also, it said we didn't convince them that she intended to return to the Ukraine, and this is after 3 previous approvals of visas.

Have things changed for the UK visa application from Ukraine since 2014?
It is better to comment on the previous rejection in the new application we are making now?

You have to mention any previous refulsals - they know anyway so you don't want to be tarred with the deception brush....

Remember too the validty of the visa is six months, that does not necessarily mean a six month stay is acceptable, as that is considered residing, not genuinely visiting.
