US Citizen wants to migrate to UK

Post by XMohX » Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:57 pm

Hi there,
I am looking to open a franchise of the US business I own in UK. What is the best route for me to take to open a business and legally settle in UK with my family?

First option: Open a franchise
Second option: Partner with a UK citizen
Third: show investment

Please give me the lease complicated and most economical method.
Thank you

Hello

Entrepreneur visa (Tier 1) could be an option for you if you have the funds to qualify:

Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa is closed to new applicants, clearly stated in the UKVI weblink.

Thank you CR001. You are absolutely right.

Then we have:

https://www.gov.uk/start-up-visa

Or

https://www.gov.uk/innovator-visa

Start-up or Innovator.

For the innovator visa, you need £50'000 and get endorsed. The endorsement is the difficult part as your business has to be truly innovative. Endorsement bodies in the UK place the bar high for that.

Endorsing bodies are here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -innovator

And there are plenty of posts in the forum with accepted or refused endorsement. It could give you an idea about what to expect.

There is also the start-up visa. It needs endorsing but there is no formal capital attached to it.

Hi Zerubbabel,

Thank you for your info. What is the process and requirement to apply for the Start-up visa. I currently have a business registered in US, but we do business overseas.

Thank you for you advice.

Please click in the links that have been provided. You need an endorsements for a start up visa. It also doesn't lead to settlement/PR on this visa. It is only a 2 year visa.

What type of business is it?

Its a Cafe, and we are giving out franchise licensing. The Inventor visa is for innovators I do not believe my business will fall under that category.

It won't qualify for start up or innovator visas unfortunately.

The visa that would have worked for you is no longer available for new applicants.
