Is Statutory Maternity Pay treated as Public Funds?

Post by Vardhineni » Wed Apr 08, 2009 3:00 pm

Hi All,

I am on HSMP due for renewal in Nov 09. My wife is going to give birth to a baby in May first week. She is currently on Maternity leave. At the end of april, shw would receive maternity payment. is Statutory maternity payment considered as public funds?

--Thanks

HI,

Yes the Statutory Maternity Pay ( SMP) is given by the employer. But the employer claims back some of the amount from the govt.

Hi,

Thank You very much. Statutory Maternity Pay comes from NI contributions and my wife has been working for the last one year and paying NI. So, no worries.

Once again Thanks
