stay of dependent spouse

Hi,

I am currently working in uk on work-permit till Feb'08. My wife is on dependent visa till same time (feb'08). She is currently pursuing a course which will be finished by mar'07 ie another 5 months.
I have got a job offer for which i have to apply work-permit via new employer. In case i have to go back to my home country for applying for new work-permit, can my spouse stay in uk in my absence (till i come again with new work-permit)

Any info is highly appreciated.
