Staying in Ireland working for UK Company

Post by desertman » Mon Sep 08, 2014 5:21 pm

Hi All,
Please advice me on this, me and my wife are British citizen, I am planing to move to Ireland to bring my parents permanently in UK, my question is,
Currently I am working in London, is that possible if I move to Dublin for 4 to 5 months and work from there (through on line) for my UK employer and get pay in my Irish Bank account, and then apply for parents as my dependent (SS Route).

My wife and son will be moving with me as well to show that the whole family has moved over there.

Please advice.
thanks

You will be classified as Self-Sufficient, but not as a worker in Ireland.

You will need to get a medical insurance to qualify for Residency Rights.

You will have difficulty qualifying under regulation 9.

thanks Obie,

But If I register myself as self-employed in Ireland and pay tax in Ireland on UK earned income (I will transfer from my UK bank account to Irish bank account) and also can work on weekends in Ireland. Will that be OK to qualify for residency rights?

thanks

You will pay UK tax on income earned from the UK company, unless they operate Eire PAYE, unlikely unless they have an Irish presence. After 183 days in Ireland you will need to register for Irish tax and avail yourself of the DTA, you'll probably need an Irish accountant for this.

I don't get the self-employed bit. Are you saying your employer will treat you as self-employed and not tax you as PAYE? That's a non-starter.

UK earning and tax will remain the same way as I am getting now and paying tax. (as an employee) nothing will change with UK employer.

In Ireland I will register myself as self-employed, will open business account, will do some weekend odd job and will transfer some of my money from Uk Personal account to Irish business account and will pay tax over there as well.

I hope it will be clear now, will that be OK to qualify for residency rights?

thanks.
